United Way of Northern Arizona is committed to leading, partnering, mobilizing and improving community conditions. Our efforts in Education work toward increasing the number of children who begin kindergarten safe, healthy, and able to reach their fullest potential.
Leading and Partnering
In October of 2004 we launched a partnership called the Community Council on Early Education and Development. This leadership council immediately identified three goals that were essential for Flagstaff’s youngest children to enter their formal school experiences able to succeed.
Mobilizing
One of these goals was “Equalizing the Playing Field.” Using United Way of Northern Arizona monies several grants were acquired. Two QWEST grants and one federal grant totaling $455,000. Not only were corporate and federal monies gained also the Arizona Early Education Funds which will support the further development of the Community Council on Early Education and Development was levied. |
